What is the COID?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases). Also known as COIDA, The aim of the COID Act is to provide for compensation in the case of disablement caused by occupational injuries and diseases, sustained or contracted by employees in the course of their employment, or death resulting from such injuries and diseases; and to provide for matters connected therewith. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Who is it for?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n An employer must register with the Commissioner within seven days after the day on which he employs his first employee. According to a prescription, anyone who employs one or more part- or full-time workers must register with the Compensation Fund and pay annual assessment fees. The Compensation Fund is a trust fund that is controlled by the Compensation Commissioner and the employer contributes to the Compensation Fund. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n How and when should it be paid?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The annual assessment fee is of an employer is based on their employee’s earnings and the risks associated with the type of work or profession. Before 31 March each year, all employers (including contractors) must submit a statement of earnings paid to all their workers from the beginning of March to the end of February.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Assessment fee = total employees pay \u00f7 100 x assessment tariff.<\/span><\/p>\n Assessment tariffs, reviewed annually, are based on the risks related to a particular type of work.
